The first Internet revolution came in the late ’90s. It was an explosion driven by free “unlimited” modem plans. A few years later, it was the overwhelming arrival of Google as the leading search engine. Altavista disappeared, Yahoo fell into oblivion and Google diversified its products: Google Maps, AdWords, etc.

It was in 2004 that the Web underwent its second revolution: social media. Many large and small websites rode on the wave of social networking and Web 2.0, including Facebook, Wikipedia, and others. Surfers went from being simply browsers to being agents.
